10 Ways to Keep Cool in a Sunny Coast Summer

The new year has kicked off with a punch and summer is well and truly upon us. With temps in the mid-to-late 30’s, how are you keeping cool this summer? At Kleer, we’re all about keeping things cool - including you - so here are our top 10 tips for cooling down on the Sunshine Coast this summer.

Cool in a Sunny Coast Summer

How to Stay Cool this Summer

#1. Hit the Beach

With so many beautiful beaches lining our coastline, it’s an obvious one for the number one spot. You could take a dip at each of the sandy and rocky beaches along the Noosa Heads Coastal Track, take the kids to the rock pool at Caloundra’s Kings Beach, or go surfing at Coolum. With so many amazing options, the beach could keep you cool all summer long!

#2. Splish Splash at the Local Pool

There are plenty of aquatic centres and public pools across the Sunny Coast - why not take a picnic lunch and make a day of it? Or, if you would rather stay at home, it's easy enough to do so with a small inflatable pool, or even a kiddies clam shell pool.

#3. Go Chasing Waterfalls

Go in search of some waterfalls like at Kondalilla National Park or Buderim Forest Park. You may work up a sweat getting to them, but once you’re there a refreshing dip will be all you need to cool down.

#4. Browse a Cool Room

That’s right - head to your local bottlo, and take your time choosing your next drink of choice, browsing all that the cold room has to offer.

#5. Get Your Skates On

Literally. Head to the Caloundra Rollerdrome for a few laps of the ice rink - what better way to cool down than on ice?

#6. Catch the Latest Movies

The air-con in the cinema is always icy cold, and is so, so good on a hot summer's day. Plus, there are loads of awesome new releases, so take your pick, grab an ice-cold drink, and sit back and relax at the movies!

#7. Learn a New Watersport

There are so many options on the Sunny Coast - you could try kneeboarding or wakeboarding at Bli Bli Watersports Complex, go on an adrenaline-pumping Jet Boat ride in Mooloolaba, or just have fun on a slip ‘n slide at the Novotel Twin Waters Aqua Fun Park. Or, you can learn to surf, stand up paddle board, kayak or scuba dive at many different beaches or canals.

#8. Have a Water Picnic

Pack some snacks, your swimmers, maybe a floatie and head off for a water picnic at some rock pools - maybe give Wappa Falls a try if you haven’t been there.

#9. Ice Cream Scoops

There’s nothing better on a hot day than a creamy delicious ice cream. You could try making your own at home, or head to the Maleny Food Co, where they use fresh milk from Maleny Dairies to make some of the best ice cream in town!

#10. Grab a Cold One

Ok - maybe there is something better than ice cream on a cold day. Beer anyone? Why not check out some of the local breweries on the Sunshine Coast and sit back with an ice cold beer? Just maybe shout a coca-cola for your driver, they’re probably hot too!
